Jess pulled the cookies out of the oven. She smiled and plated them, writing a note on an index card for Sam.
Jess put them on the table and went to turn on the shower.
She heard a knock at the door. Jess smiled and ran to it.
“Sam, did you leave your keys agai- Oh. Hi Brady.” She smiled.
“Hey Jess, sorry to come by so late, but we have that test next week in macroeconomics, and I lost my notes.”
He sighed and rubbed his head. “Can I trouble you for borrowing yours?”
Jess smiled. “Of course, come on in, I’ll be right back. You can have a cookie if you want.” She smiled and left the room.
“So, where is Sam?” He asked, picking up a cookie and sniffing it.
“Oh, yeah. Kind of weird. His brother showed up a couple days ago out of the blue, said his dad hadn’t been home in a few days. I guess they went up to the hunting cabin to get him back.” She said from the other room.
Brady smirked. “His brother? I thought he didn’t stay in touch with his family.”
Jess came back in the room with her binder. “He doesn’t. But family is family you know? Although, he should have been back by now. I’m getting kind of worried about him.” She bit her lip.
Brady smiled at her. “You really love him don’t you?”
She sat down and smiled shyly. “Yeah I do. Can I tell you something? I think he is going to ask me to marry him.” She smiled happily.
“That’s great!” He smiled. “I am so glad I set you two up.”
“Yeah, you’re a really great friend Brady.” She smiled at him.
“So are you Jess. And that’s why it’s going to be hard to do this.” He sighed.
Jess furrowed her brows. “Do what?”
Brady looked up and smirked. Black eyes boring into Jessica’s.
“Brady! Your eyes!” She stood up suddenly.
“Sorry Jess.” He said, and lifted his hand. Jess flew back into the wall.
“You know, you boy hasn’t been telling you the whole truth. I’m doing you a favor here!”
She started to cry. “Brady stop!”
“No princess. This needs to be done. See, Sammy needs to hurt. And what better way to hurt than to see his precious little girlfriend roast alive on the ceiling? Its how his mom died you know. Kind of poetic if you ask me.” He twisted his hand and she screamed, blood staining the whiteness of her Pajamas.
“Sammy’s real important. He’s gunna be God one day. Well, my god.” He smirked.
“Jess?” Sam opened the door and called out.
“Oops, that’s my cue. Gotta go princess.” He moved his hands up and she slid up the wall to the ceiling.
Jess stared down at Sam, she couldn’t speak. She saw him lay down on the bed, and watched as her blood dripped on his forehead.
He opened his eyes and screamed.
Suddenly, she was engulfed in flames.
Everything went black.
